Free Cleaning for Cancer Patients | Cleaning for a Reason

Come Back Clean partners with Cleaning for a Reason to provide free home cleaning to eligible cancer patients in Louisiana. Patients undergoing or recovering from cancer treatment can apply directly through the nonprofit, which matches eligible applicants with participating local cleaning companies. The program serves people with any type of cancer at no cost to the patient.

What Is Cleaning for a Reason?

Cleaning for a Reason is a nonprofit program that connects people affected by cancer with local residential cleaning companies willing to donate professional home cleaning.

Come Back Clean is one of those participating companies. Our partnership allows us to use the work we already know how to do to help families in the communities we serve.

The program is not limited to breast cancer. Cleaning for a Reason says it serves people with any type of cancer who are undergoing active treatment, recovering from cancer treatment or surgery, or receiving hospice care. Its current program provides eligible patients with two free home cleanings, typically one cleaning per month for two months.

Come Back Clean publicly identifies itself as a proud Cleaning for a Reason partner, serving communities throughout the Baton Rouge, Gonzales, and Lafayette markets.

Who Qualifies and How Do You Apply?

Cleaning for a Reason accepts applications from people with any type of cancer who are in treatment, recovering from cancer treatment or surgery, or receiving hospice care. Apply through the nonprofit's patient application, provide the requested patient information, and Cleaning for a Reason will determine eligibility and work to match the patient with a participating local cleaner.

The application process is handled by Cleaning for a Reason rather than by Come Back Clean directly.

The steps are straightforward:

  1. Go to the official Cleaning for a Reason application.
Use the nonprofit's official patient application page.
  2. Enter the requested patient information.
The nonprofit asks for information including the patient's name, email, address, and other information needed to process the request.
  3. Submit the application to Cleaning for a Reason.
The nonprofit reviews the application and works to match eligible patients with a participating residential cleaning company in their area.
  4. Wait for the program to coordinate the match.
Applying does not mean Come Back Clean independently approves the patient or guarantees the appointment. Cleaning for a Reason manages eligibility and matching through its program.

There is no charge to the patient for cleanings provided through the program.

What Does a Cleaning Visit Look Like During Cancer Treatment?

The most important thing is not to make the visit harder for the person receiving help.

Someone going through cancer treatment may already be managing appointments, fatigue, family responsibilities, and changes to their normal routine. The purpose of the donated cleaning is to take a household task off that list, not create another one.

Come Back Clean already brings its own cleaning products and equipment for residential service. Customers can also communicate special product or household considerations ahead of the appointment.

For a Cleaning for a Reason visit, the same basic principle applies: communicate anything the team needs to know before arrival. That may include access instructions, pets, areas that should not be disturbed, or particular household concerns.

The cleaning team is there to clean the home.

We are not providing nursing, medical care, treatment advice, personal care, or clinical services. If someone has medical instructions that affect what can safely happen in the home, those instructions should come from the patient's healthcare team and be communicated appropriately before service.

That boundary matters. A free professional cleaning can remove a household burden, but it does not replace medical or caregiving support.

Why We Participate

For Come Back Clean, this partnership is personal.

Our co-founder, Hope Boutte, is a breast cancer survivor. On Come Back Clean's own website, Hope explains that her experience showed her how difficult life's struggles can be and how meaningful small acts of care can become during those periods. That experience is part of why caring for people in their homes matters so much to the company.

We already have cleaning teams going into homes throughout South Louisiana every week. Cleaning for a Reason gives us a way to use that same work to help someone who has enough on their plate without having to worry about keeping up with the house too.

That is the reason we participate. It is useful work we can actually do.

How Can You Refer Someone Who Has Cancer?

You do not have to be the patient to start the process.

Cleaning for a Reason allows caregivers, nurses, doctors, nurse navigators, colleagues, friends, and family members to submit an application for someone with cancer. The nonprofit asks that you speak with the patient first and make sure the person is willing to receive the service. You will also need the patient's information to complete the application.

That makes the program worth knowing about if you work with cancer patients professionally.

A nurse, social worker, support-group coordinator, hospital foundation, family member, or friend can point someone toward the official Cleaning for a Reason application rather than trying to arrange the donated cleaning directly with a participating company.

Come Back Clean serves communities across the Baton Rouge area, Gonzales area, and Lafayette area. The Cleaning for a Reason program, however, handles patient qualification and matching.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cleaning for a Reason Only for Breast Cancer Patients?

No. Cleaning for a Reason says the program is available to people with any type of cancer who meet its eligibility requirements. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a useful time to share the program, but the free-cleaning program itself is not restricted to breast cancer patients. See the Cleaning for a Reason FAQs for current program information.

How Much Does Cleaning for a Reason Cost?

There is no cost to the eligible patient for the donated cleaning service. Participating cleaning companies donate their time and services through the Cleaning for a Reason program. Patients should apply through the nonprofit so eligibility and local matching can be handled through the official process. See the Cleaning for a Reason FAQs for details.

How Many Free Cleanings Does a Patient Receive?

Cleaning for a Reason currently states that each matched patient receives two free home cleanings, generally one cleaning per month for two months. The nonprofit manages the program and matching, so current program details should always be confirmed through its official patient information before applying.

Can I Apply for a Family Member or Friend?

Yes. Family members, friends, caregivers, nurses, doctors, colleagues, and other supporters may apply on someone's behalf. Cleaning for a Reason asks that you first confirm that the patient wants to receive the service and that you have the patient information required for the application. See the Cleaning for a Reason FAQs.

Do I Apply Directly Through Come Back Clean?

No. Applications for donated cancer-patient cleaning should go through Cleaning for a Reason. The nonprofit determines eligibility and works to match qualifying patients with participating cleaners. If you have a separate question for Come Back Clean about its services or Louisiana service areas, you can contact Come Back Clean.

Know Someone Who Could Use This?

If someone you know is undergoing cancer treatment, recovering from treatment or surgery, or receiving hospice care, send them the official Cleaning for a Reason application.

They do not need to be an existing Come Back Clean customer.

They do not need to have breast cancer specifically.

And they should not have to guess whom to call or how the program works.

Start with Cleaning for a Reason's official patient application. If the person is eligible, the nonprofit will work through its network to coordinate available cleaning support.
